My Ravello #SOL19 Day 15/31

I am once again participating in the Slice of Life Story Challenge for the month of March.  This is the fourth year I have joined the community of writers over at Two Writing Teachers in taking up this challenge of writing for 31 consecutive days.  I know it will be hard work but the growth will be immeasurable. Follow along!

My Ravello

Hey Chris, I really like your top.

Oh you mean my Ravello?

Ravello? What is that?

Well… it’s a long story. Do you have a minute?

Four years ago I visited Italy with a group of very dear friends.  We were visiting the Amalfi Coast region of Italy and we stumbled upon this beautiful hill-town  called Ravello.  We soon discovered the town was home to a world famous music festival.  It was fun exploring the town with and all the little restaurants and shops.  One such shop was selling the pretty little knit capes with pearl beads on the corners.  Of course, once one of us tried one on, we all wanted to have one.  Lucky for us they came in many different colors and slightly differing styles. We each bought a style that pleased us and walked out into the hot Italian sun beaming as we wore our new finds.  Giggling at our impulsive purchases we wondered what to call our latest fashion finds.  They were too fancy to be called a cape or a poncho. I thought we should call them Ravellos to mark our wonderful day in this little town.”  “Perfect!” we all remarked.

Since that day, each time I wear this bright blue garment I think back to that beautiful spot on the Amalfi coast where I treated myself to the latest fashion statement. No not a cape, nor a poncho, but a very elegant Ravello!
