It’s Slice of Life Tuesday and I’m joining the community of writers over at Two Writing Teachers. Join in!
Gray Day
Gray day.
Snuggled under a blanket, eating soup and listening to the tick of the clock.
Gray day.
Warm and cozy inside, gazing across the lake and watching the white caps form.
Gray day.
Book in hand, noticing the darkness and spying the fog consume the view.
Gray day.
Settle in deeper, embracing the peace of my home and realizing my blessings.
Gray day.
Nice. Noticing the beauty in the not so perfect!
fog consumes
the view — the
distance from me
to you — where words
seek clarity – a light
subsumes, only to
turn the day,
askew

Love it! And appreciate the fact that you can do this so quickly and aptly! Thank you
Repetition is such a powerful force in poetry. I love pointing that out to kids. Your use of it here frames out your images really well!
Thanks Melanie. The words kept swirling in my head as I experienced the day and knew I had to use repeating phrases.
“Gray day” at first seemed ominous, but the lines between are peaceful and inviting. A lovely vignette!
Thank you!
